Pakistan wants out of Makkah pact… Taliban claims amid attack, Islamabad is playing games

Zabihullah Mujahid has accused Pakistan of launching attacks in Afghanistan as a pretext for withdrawing from the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement with Saudi Arabia and Turkey. He says that Islamabad is playing games and trying to get out of the Makkah agreement.

Makkah Joint Defense Agreement

In fact, on August 7, 2026, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan signed the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement. Under the agreement, any armed attack on one of the three countries would be considered an attack on all three and increased defense cooperation was called for. Now the Taliban is raising questions on Pakistan regarding this agreement. The Taliban allege that Islamabad is shaping its strategy through military operations in Afghanistan.

Accusation of Zabihullah Mujahid

Speaking at a gathering organized by a religious seminary in Kandahar on Thursday, Zabihullah Mujahid targeted Pakistan and accused Islamabad of deliberately creating a state of war with Afghanistan to avoid its commitments under the accord.

Mujahid said, ‘The recent attacks on Afghanistan by Pakistan were carried out with the aim of avoiding the Makkah agreement with Saudi Arabia, while the situation was presented in such a way that Pakistan was embroiled in the war in Afghanistan’.

Mujahid alleged that Pakistan was playing games by engaging in conflict with Afghanistan through frequent military attacks. He also claimed that the attacks were aimed at diverting people’s attention from Pakistan’s domestic problems.

Four civilians were killed

Mujahid’s statement comes at a time when Pakistan has launched airstrikes in several areas of Afghanistan, including Kandahar, Paktia and Khost. According to Afghan officials, four civilians were killed in these attacks. Kandahar is considered to be the stronghold of Hibtullah Akhundzada, the supreme leader of the Taliban.

Pakistan’s Minister of Information said that the Pakistani army has attacked 10 targets in Afghanistan. Islamabad did not give details of all the targets, but accused Afghanistan of allowing terrorist havens to be built on its soil. Islamabad alleges that terrorist activities and drone attacks are being carried out from the soil of Afghanistan. Pakistan is considering these attacks as a necessary action for its security. While Kabul denies these allegations. This whole incident has increased the tension between the two countries.
