Pune: A shocking case has emerged from Yerwada, where a minor boy was allegedly forced to steal 84 tolas of gold ornaments and cash amounting to ₹15,000 to ₹20,000 from his own house. The accused reportedly threatened to kill him and his family if he refused to comply. The crime took place over several months, between November 2024 and March 23, 2025.
The boy’s father, Sagar Vinod Goyal (42), a businessman residing in Mittal Niwas, Pratik Nagar, Yerwada, lodged a complaint with the Yerwada Police after realizing that valuables had been stolen from their home. Following the complaint, the police launched an investigation and uncovered the shocking details of how the minor was manipulated and threatened into committing the theft. (pune news today)
Acting swiftly, the police arrested three suspects in connection with the case. The accused have been identified as Rohit Navnath Owhal (29), a resident of Jadhav Nagar, Yerwada; Rehan Shabbir Qureshi (25), a resident near Husain Shah Baba Dargah, Mental Corner, Yerwada; and Stephen John Shirsat (19), a resident of Somnath Nagar, Vadgaon Sheri. The trio was taken into custody on Wednesday, March 27, 2025, and produced before the court, which remanded them to five days of police custody.
The investigation is being carried out under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Shelke, with Assistant Police Inspector Vishal Takle leading the probe.
