Tata IPL Points Table 2025: The 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) has kicked off with high-intensity matches. On March 25, Punjab Kings, under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, secured a thrilling 11-run victory over Gujarat Titans. This was the fifth match of the season, marking the completion of the first round, with every team having played one game each.
So far, five teams have started their campaign with a win, while five teams suffered losses in their opening matches. Before Gujarat’s defeat, teams like Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, and defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders had also lost their opening matches. On the other hand, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru started their season on a winning note.
After the first round of matches, the big question is – Who is leading the IPL 2025 points table?
Punjab’s Victory Shakes Up the Points Table
Punjab Kings’ win against Gujarat Titans has brought significant changes to the points table, causing a setback for two major teams. After their first victory, Punjab has overtaken Chennai Super Kings, pushing them down to the fourth position. Delhi Capitals have also slipped to the fifth spot.
Before the Punjab vs. Gujarat match, Delhi was in fourth place, but Punjab’s victory altered the standings. As every match progresses, the competition for the top spots will intensify, with winning teams moving ahead while losing teams fall behind.
Who is at the No. 1 Position?
Currently, Sunrisers Hyderabad hold the top spot in the IPL 2025 points table. Even after the fifth match of the season, Hyderabad has managed to retain its position. Royal Challengers Bengaluru is in second place, with only a slight difference in net run rate separating them from Hyderabad.
Mumbai Indians’ Position in the Table
Mumbai Indians currently sit in seventh place, just below Lucknow Super Giants. Gujarat Titans are positioned at eighth place, while defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders are struggling at ninth place. Rajasthan Royals are at the bottom (10th position) after suffering a heavy defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
As the tournament progresses, the battle for the top spots will get even more competitive. Every win will push teams higher, while every loss will cause them to slip in the rankings. Stay tuned for more updates on IPL 2025!
