Malpractice suspected in MBBS-BDS admissions in Uttarakhand, 778 candidates probed

Documents of 778 candidates taking admission in MBBS and BDS will be verified through NEET UG Counseling in Uttarakhand. These students have benefited from reservations like SC, ST, OBC, EWS and dependents of freedom fighters under state quota. After the case of giving medical admissions through fake certificates came to light, the government has speeded up the verification process. HNB Medical Education University has released the list of 1112 candidates who opted for provisional admission and float option in the first and second round. In which the original certificates of 778 students who availed the benefit of reservation have been sent to the district administration for verification.

A list of 370 suspect candidates has also been released

In this case, social activist Pradeep Bahuguna handed over a list of 370 suspicious candidates to the Health Minister. He expressed apprehensions of cheating in the NEET UG admission process. The use of fake certificates has also been confirmed in some cases related to the quota of freedom fighters. The SIT is probing the matter.

Documents seized in Haridwar Medical College

The SIT reached Haridwar Medical College on Monday and took into custody the documents related to the admission of a student. A student was allotted a college on the basis of merit. The investigation team examined all his educational and reservation related certificates. Some college officials were also questioned.

Files of Tehsil and Medical Colleges are being verified

To trace the network issuing fake certificates, the SIT has also seized the necessary records from Doon’s SDM office. Earlier, documents of suspected candidates have also been taken from medical colleges in Haldwani and Srinagar. The purpose of the investigation is to find out where and by what process the certificates were issued.

338 seats of All India Quota are not covered by this investigation. State level reservation is not applicable to these seats. As per MCC schedule, third phase counseling is proposed between 28th September to 9th October.
