Uttar Pradesh government has recently transferred 34 IAS officers. As part of this administrative reshuffle, the District Magistrates of 14 districts have also been transferred. 2015 batch IAS officer Anunay Jha has been made the new DM of Moradabad. Before this he held important responsibilities in several districts including Hardoi. Moradabad’s new DM Anunay Jha has cleared the UPSC exam twice. Anunay Jha, a 2015 batch IAS officer, studied Electrical Engineering from IIT Roorkee. The special thing is that he has cleared the UPSC Civil Services exam twice. He became IRS by securing 145th rank in his first attempt, but took the exam again to fulfill his goal of becoming IAS. He secured 57th rank in the second attempt and became an IAS officer.

Anunay Jha’s early education was from Culture School, Chanakyapuri, Delhi. After 12th he took admission in IIT Roorkee and obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering in 2012. After his studies he also worked in World Bank projects. After this he started preparing for civil services.

First became IRS, then IAS

Anunay Jha appeared for UPSC Civil Services for the first time in 2013. She secured 145th rank and got selected for IRS. However, his goal was to become an IAS. So along with the job, he also continued his UPSC preparation. In 2014, he took the exam again and this time secured the 57th rank. With this he became an IAS officer.

Took responsibility on many important positions

After becoming IAS, he was posted in Mathura. In 2017, he worked as SDM and Officer on Special Duty in Development Authority in Jhansi. In 2019, he became the CDO of Aligarh. In 2021, got charge of Municipal Commissioner of Mathura-Vrindavan Municipal Corporation. Became DM of Maharajganj in 2023 and DM of Hardoi in 2025. Now in 2026 he has been made the DM of Moradabad.
