But if technology is created to make people’s work easier, many people misuse it. A similar case related to AI has come to light, in which a son tried to poison his father using AI.

A case reported from Bahawalpur, Pakistan is raising new concerns about the use of artificial intelligence. Pakistan’s National Cyber ​​Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has registered a case against a 17-year-old boy for allegedly trying to kill his father by poisoning him. According to officials, he was taking information about the poison from the AI ​​chat, which he also mixed in his father’s food, though he was unsuccessful.

Was getting information about toxic substance

According to the FIR in the case, Pakistan’s Ministry of External Affairs shared the information received from the FBI with the NCCIA on September 22. It mentioned an AI user who was getting detailed information about dangerous toxic substances, their uses and their effects on the body. The investigating agency claims that digital records have revealed such queries, which indicate that the user was gathering information to harm his father.

He first tried to harm his father by mixing lab-grade methanol in the food, but was unsuccessful. According to the FIR, the boy allegedly wrote that his father had consumed about 15 to 20 ml of food containing methanol, but ‘nothing happened’ to him. After this he also tried to get information from the AI ​​related to a poison called Abrin.

Questions were asked about the experiment

According to the report, the boy asked the AI ​​questions about the effects of methanol on the body, possible effects after mixing it with food, effects on folate levels, the alleged ‘latency time’ of abrin and chemical experiments related to methanol. According to NCCIA Director Husam Bin Iqbal, Kishor initially asked questions to Google’s Gemini AI and later used AI chatbots like Anthropic’s Cloud and X’s Grok.

A lab was set up at home

He also asked for information about the effects of toxic substances and related experiments. The FBI provided information about the relevant email accounts and some IP addresses to Pakistani authorities. Further investigation led officers to a 17-year-old boy living in Bahawalpur. It is also being said that her parents had no information about her. However, they knew that their son was interested in chemistry and built a lab at home, in which he used to do some experiments.

Was inspired by ‘Breaking Bad’

During the investigation it was also revealed that it was inspired by the American TV series ‘Breaking Bad’. Officers searched the house after getting a warrant from the court. During this period, an iPhone 15 Pro Max and several chemicals were found. The FIR mentions methanol, ethylene glycol, hydrochloric acid, potassium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide. Currently, a case has been registered against the 17-year-old accused under Section 15 of the Pakistan Electronic Crime Act (PECA) 2016 and Section 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
